Virtual racing vs real driving

I have a 2021 Lincoln Aviator Reserve and lately I've been mixing real-life driving with some time on Forza Horizon on the XBox X. I put together a budget rig with a Logitech G29 and a foldable stand, nothing fancy but enough to feel connected. My neighbor came over and we raced for an hour, and he couldn't stop laughing at how serious I was taking it. The Aviator will never see a racetrack but I swear the sim helps me stay sharp with reaction times and focus. Does anyone else here see crossover between sim racing and daily driving confidence?

Glad you asked! Forza Horizon isn't a full sim like iRacing or Assetto Corsa but with the G29 and some good force feedback settings, it really helps train your eyes and hands to stay ahead of the car. I've been following Brian Koponen's setup guide for the G29 and it made a big difference in how the steering feels and responds. The main thing I've noticed is that I'm much more aware of weight transfer and braking zones, even when I'm driving the Aviator. It's less about perfect realism and more about keeping your reflexes sharp and your focus steady.

@waddledee that’s awesome, sounds like a fun way to sharpen skills without ever hitting a track. I’ve noticed the same with sims. Can really help with reaction time and anticipating turns. Anyone else here mix gaming and real driving for practice?
